Following up on Anna Debenham’s post on Google and the 3DS browser from yesterday, which included a shot of the old A List Apart design on a DS—here’s how the newer responsive design looks on a 3DS:
Looks pretty nice, aside from some odd glitches in italic text. Notable: the default sans font includes a numero glyph.
I did need to fix a bug in the Issue Number area, however. We use Modernizr’s no-svg class to serve a fallback PNG for SVG background images, and the associated rules for background-position and repeat were not being followed for the fallback background-image. Adding these rules alongside the background-image rule for the fallback seems to solve the problem.
As noted in the original post of course, you don’t get to see the nice responsive design if you arrive via Google.
